Client Case Study Rebecca Morgan - When I Grow Up

Client Case Study Rebecca Morgan - When I Grow Up Um, do you know that I’ve coached hundreds of women since I started offering dream career guidance in 2008? And that these women are freakin’ rock stars, leaving soul-sucking jobs and traveling the world and launching creative, grown-up businesses and simply doing work that fits their lifestyle goals? Well ya do now â€" and you’ll hear their stories firsthand in my Client Case Studies series! Ohmygosh, Rebecca is a gem of a person. SO smart, energetic and funny, shes someone who recently realized and embraced! her multi-passionate nature. We worked together to parlay those personality traits along with her lifestyle goals, personal interests and experience in Fortune 500 companies to help others Choose Awesome Work. Read on for her inspiring story! Why did you decide to work with a creative career coach? I didn’t think about working with a career coach until I was introduced to Michelle! I dreamed about having time flexibility and variety in my work but not sure how to go about it. I listen to entrepreneurial podcasts and I kept hearing references to Entrepreneur on Fire. I finally got around to checking it out and there are THOUSANDS of episodes! Where to start? Do I start at the beginning? With the latest? I picked one to start with based on the title called, Hippie Dippie All The Way To Success With Michelle Ward. I fell in love with her energy, optimism, and honesty. She had a casual tone, makes pop culture references, and talked about being your authentic self. All things I can relate to. In the interview, she is asked about a book recommendation and she mentioned if you have multiple interests, Renaissance Soul by Margaret Lobenstine. Wait! Having multiple interests is a thing? It doesn’t mean something is wrong with me? I went out the next day and picked up the book and realized I needed to work with a creative career coach. Someone who gets me, understands what I am going through, and struggling with a creative woman. What were you doing work-wise when we started our sessions? I created magic for over 20 years for one of the most admired Fortune 500 companies in the world. In that time, I have had 12 unique careers that took me to Florida, Shanghai, Hawaii and California which gave me variety of work but I was still missing the time flexibility I craved. I also ran a boutique travel agency and an online pearl jewelry business in my spare time. There is my Renaissance Soul coming out. What was your biggest takeaway from our work together? It is possible and I can do this. That there is not ONE way, a right answer, and what you should be doing when it comes to your career. What do you want? You can make your business what you want it to be. One size does not fit all. You can even change your mind, it is all OK! Was there anything else you tried to do as a career between the time we stopped our sessions and what you do for work now? If so, how did it inform your current career? I left our sessions feeling pretty confident in the direction I was headed. We worked on mindset, created a plan, and put pieces in place. I just had to keep making processes on the plan. An amazing temporary opportunity came up in my organization. When the assignment came to an end, I choose to not find another job. The world did not stop and end as I thought it was going to proving there is life after 20+ years with an organization. I did go through a period where I was second guessing myself, the plan, and making changes to it thinking it was the right thing to do because I was looking at what others were doing. It didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel like me. I went back to my recordings and notes from our sessions and that confirmed why it didn’t feel right. I am now back on my original vision and plan. Don’t second guess yourself, don’t do it! Pinch me! I now have the time flexibility I wanted and the ability to choose projects that are of interest to me. It is pretty awesome. What would you tell someone now that was in your shoes when we first started working together? Whats your best tip to allow them to make a grown-up living doing what they love? Don’t let the voices inside your head and the voices of others tell you it is not possible. It is so possible. Keep dreaming, planning, taking action, and don’t give up (or second guess yourself). If you have your own biz, whats on the horizon for your business? Wed love to hear about any upcoming offerings or goals! Bad leadership has become common practice and just because everyone is doing it doesn’t make it right. I am on a mission to change the world with how we lead. I am developing conscious leadership training for leaders who believe that engaging the hearts and minds of people is how you grow the bottom line. I would love to know your thoughts on the biggest challenge with leadership to include in the content. If you would take a few minutes to tell me about it I would so appreciate it! Here’s the link.
